Marc Jordan, celebrates “both sides” of music, smooth Jazz can’t get any smoother! - dHarmic Evolution Podcast

Having had his songs been on 35 Million CDs and recorded 16 of his own Albums, our guest today, Marc Jordan is a true music legend and inspiration to all aspiring artists in the singing and songwriting niche.

Married to Fellow musician and actress Amy Sky, Jordan’s Music Career shot for the sky when he signed for Warner Music in LA and began writing songs for and alongside some of the greats, including Diana Ross, Chicago, Kenny Loggins, Brette Milder, and Rod Stewart.

Jordan has already been the recipient of several music awards including the ASCAP, JUNO and Smooth awards. Despite having already accomplished so much in the industry, the drive and passion that Jordan has for music and songwriting, according to him, is deeper and more profound than it’s ever been. He’s just released his latest album “Both Sides” in April of 2019, and alongside his wife Amy, the two are currently working on releasing another album set for 2020.

Show Notes

I had the pleasure of hosting Marc Jordan on the dHarmic Evolution today, stay tuned in the show as we discuss the life and career of Jordan, alongside some of his top hits including, the #1 smash world wide “Rhythm of My Heart” sung by Rod Stewart.

As he ventured into the music industry, Jordan noticed that the careers of so many people were catching fire with his songs. Warner Chappell noticed and approached and signed Jordan to a publishing deal after noticing how talented he was with his writing, and from then on Jordan would just write as if he would be the one to perform the songs. Later on, the songs would be pitched to other artists who would add their tune and style.

Jordan gives us a look into his personal life and career life. Get to find out the joys and challenges of working in the music industry from Jordan’s memories and experiences. We explore issues related to his touring, songwriting, performing and changes that have been ushered in by technology in the music industry.

Quotes

It’s hard to do cover songs because people are always comparing them to the original. So you’ve got to make it your own without destroying people’s memories (04:57)

So I just wrote as if I was going to record everything myself. That was the only way I could make the songs true. And the people that recorded the songs brought themselves to the show. (16:40)

When I realized that the concerts weren’t about me, that they were about the people sitting in the audience, is when I stopped began to enjoy concerts more, because I got so much in return. (40:22)

Music is so important. It’s our first language and it’s the language of our hearts and it’s the language of a revolution as well. It’s important politically and it’s important emotionally. And we must never lose sight of that. And we must never compromise our artists because to do that there would be no art in the world. And if there was no art in this world, especially in music, then what is this world? (01:01:37

Today we dive into the world of Technology. As content creators in the music, writing and the professional speaking industry, technology is inevitably a part of our everyday lives and careers. In this show, I’ll dive into streaming, expounding on the different podcasts and music streaming platforms as I get into my experiences and relationships with Apple.
Stay tuned to also find out the interconnection and relation between Cable Tv, 5g, AI and how it’s going to largely affect our lives moving forward.

Do you have a love-hate relationship with Apple Music? What ties us to their products and services.

There’s more on technology as I also cover 5G networks and its relation to AI and Self-driving cars. Get my thoughts and opinions on how Self-driving cars will greatly save lives and plunge the rates in the insurance industry.

Also, in today’s internet-dependent world, it’s no secret that privacy is quickly fading away and our data is vulnerable to numerous external attacks. Brave Browser is definitely one of the alternative tools you can use to protect yourself from such threats and perils.

Alan Stein, meeting Kobe Bryant at 3:30 AM for fundamentals, Mastering the basics create’s champions - dHarmic Evolution Podcast

“Why do you think I’m the best player in the world? Because I never get bored with the basics” –Kobe Bryant-

Today on the dHarmic Evolution Podcast we’ll be diving into the life-changing and phenomenal strategies of Alan Stein Jr.

Alan is a dynamic and engaging storyteller, keynote speaker and author who has spent 15 years as a performance coach working with the top and highest performing basketball players – Including Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Kobe Bryant – Alan specializes in teaching his audience the art of utilizing similar practices in business and life that athletes use to perform at a world-class level.

Alan’s methods and tactics have proven to be a success in improving individual and organizational leadership, performance and accountability. For this, Alan has gained a positive reputation of inspiring and empowering everyone that he works with into immediate action, improving their mindset, habits, and productivity.

Alan is passionate about delivering true change in the spheres of leadership development, mental grit, and team unity, all these while still proving that the foundation and basis behind success in the court has a similar effect when applied in any industry.

Alan’s career and key decisive moment

While still playing basketball at Elon University, Alan gravitated towards performance training, strength, and conditioning. This paved the path to his 2-decade career as a basketball performance coach, where he had the chance of working with some of the top players and coaches of the sport.

About a decade ago, while he was still working at the NBA’s Player Association top 100 Camp, Alan was emotionally moved and inspired by former NBA Player and renowned speaker Walter Bond’s speech to the young high school NBA Prospects. And, ever since that day, a seed was planted in Alan; the ability to positively influence the lives of others, especially through the spoken word. He knew then, that inspiration through speaking was something he would definitely explore.

Quotes

[7:00] In order to get good at your specific craft, you should step outside it and draw inspiration and learn from other crafts. As a professional speaker, two of the things that I draw the most inspiration from, are hip hop and stand-up comedy. Although both are very different from corporate speaking, they both rely on the spoken words to paint a picture, shift your emotions, think, act and do differently.

[12:16] “Why do you think I’m the best player in the world? Because I never get bored with the basics” – Kobe Bryant.

[12:54] “Just because something is basic, it doesn’t mean it’s easy. If it was easy, then everyone would be doing it”

[13:21] “The very first step to being a high performer, whether it’s in music, basketball or business, it’s to admit that the basics work. And having the humility to acknowledge that implementing the basics every single day, is definitely not easy”

[16:33] “In order for your business to thrive or for you to become good at your craft, you have to work relentlessly on becoming your best self. And in order to do that, you have to make sure your bucket is always full (with daily practices and routines). To achieve true mastery is when you’re able to teach others these skills”

[18:11] “Being open and constantly searching for new ways to do things, will keep you sharp and invigorated”
