Fiona Varner | Annointed by the Lord and now a Music Minister - dHarmic Evolution Podcast

Welcome back to dHarmic Evolution podcast with me, James Kevin O’Connor, singer/songwriter, audio/video artist, and master storyteller. On today’s episode, we spend our day speaking with Fiona Varner, a wonderful singer hailing from Prince George County, Maryland.

From a young age, Fiona has been a musician. Keyboards, clarinets, singing – the passion for music has always been a part of her life. Her artisanship is evident with her refusal to be boxed into any creative corner! Fiona takes pride in exploring different styles and sounds – “a good song is a good song,” after all! Her craft is her life, and we explore how she took early childhood inspiration and turned it into a wonderful career in music filled with soul and love.

Fiona has a wonderful approach to her story: “It’s a we thing, not a me thing!” And a big part of that are the people she’s worked with – from old bands to her own family. Word is her 6 year old is running the show!

Check out this episode to hear more about Fiona’s creativity and inspiration!

DE105 Debra D’Lane |Real Life Country Girl

Debra D’Lane |Real Life Country Girl - dHarmic Evolution Podcast

“Timing is everything” You hear that a lot these days! This is how Debra D’Lane feels about her music!

Debra D’Lane was born and raised in a rural area. She spent most of her life growing up on a ranch outside of Uvalde, Texas. “When you live out in the middle of nowhere you have to find things to do. I love and chose music. It was and has always been a big part of my life.”

Out on the ranch Debra had access to an ole’ school juke box.  “There were many great records on that juke box including Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Hank Williams, Marty Robbins, Tanya Tucker, and many more. I can still see myself standing on top of the pool table, cue stick in hand as my mic singing away to all those great tunes. ”It seemed like every aspect of Debra’s life on both sides of her family had something to do with music & dancing. “We were always singing and dancing!”

As time went by Debra and her husband started a family. After raising the kids up to a certain age is when Debra decided to take the next step in her love for music. “When your son says “Mom it’s time” I knew then it was time to get busy!”

Debra has done just that! For the past year she has been working on many projects including spending lots of time in the recording studio. She is also going to be doing a little acting. Yes, Debra has landed herself a part in an upcoming film where she will have the opportunity to perform her music as well. She just finished up an EP that was produced by Bill Warner of Warner Works in Nashville, Tn. Many of the songs on the EP are written and or co-written by Kirsti Manna aka Songwriter Girl. Debra is also working with Rick Barker, former manager of Taylor Swift, to help guide and mentor her career.

Debra who is signed to Heart Songs Corporation says, “I feel so truly blessed and grateful to have the opportunity to work with Mr. Bill & Mrs. Kirsti. They are incredibly talented and wonderful people. I am also truly blessed to have the opportunity to work with Mr. Rick Barker, Wow! What a remarkable mentor he is in the Music Industry of today and truly cares about the artist and the path they take.”

Most and foremost Debra D’Lane appreciates her fans. “It’s amazing to me the responses I receive from my music. It makes my day when my fans take the time out of this busy world we live in to send me emails and messages through my online presence of how my songs affect them. Thank You from the bottom of my heart!”

I want to move to the Countryside once again, if you can’t be there you have to dream yourself away I sit down in my studio basement and write songs, there is a shower in the basement next to the studio, TJ needs to quiet the family down when he is recording, can’t have the kids running across the floor.

I hunt as much as I can, sort of deer, we call it Roe Deer, 80 Lb deer, kind of small, James wants to ride one, TJ also hunts Moose and Wild Boar. We shoot the small ones, as the big ones don’t have a good taste.

DE97 BJ Wilbanks | All for Authenticity and Genuine Connections

BJ Wilbanks | All for Authenticity and Genuine Connections - dHarmic Evolution Podcast

Being authentic and connecting with his audience through music are two of BJ Wilbanks’s main career goals. He doesn’t care much for manufactured content; he wants the REAL thing.

He picked up the guitar at a very young age and started writing music and performing at age 13, and BJ has been going ever since.

Listen to his cool, soothing voice and those rockin’ guitar skills on episode 97!

Listen to BJ WIlbanks’ song Right Back Home

About BJ WIlbanks

Georgia native BJ Wilbanks creates blues-infused rock music reminiscent of a bygone era, combining deeply-rooted Delta blues, funk, soul, and acoustic Southern rock to create a sound that is familiar, yet uniquely his own. BJ has developed his own sub-genre of Americana which he refers to as “back porch soul.” His tales of heartache, love, and life combine artfully with an engaging live performance.

BJ’s original songs range from heart break romantic to bad a$ stomp-your-foot groove. He’ll often sling his guitar over his lap to play a slide tune that will transport you to a smoky blues bar in the bayou and then chase it with a tune that will bring you back to reality with an original rock anthem. Simply said, BJ Wilbanks has the ability to take you on a musical journey.
